From Seed to Seed is a professional development course designed for K-8 teachers who already incorporate botany and gardening (indoors or out) into their science curriculum and for teachers who would like to start doing so. You can work sequentially through the entire course or jump to the sections that will help you with specific concepts. There are no prerequisites. You can sign up at any time.

This short flash video stars two singing groundhogs and offers a fun overview of groundwater. The messages include what groundwater is, where it comes from, its importance, services, threats, and what you can do to protect it. Topics are middle school appropriate but all ages will enjoy the video.

The Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) has developed new climate change maps illustrating historical trends and future projections for Wisconsin. In addition, a new publication, Wisconsin Land Use Megatrends: Climate Change draws on state and national trends to illustrate how unpredictable weather patterns could impact our land use, ecology, and economy.

Backyard and schoolyard bird watchers can help scientists track changes in bird numbers and movements from year to year by sharing information about which birds visit their feeders between November and April. Project FeederWatch, a citizen-science program from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Bird Studies Canada, works with all ages and skill levels. Teachers can use it to engage children in nature study and scientific investigation through careful observation and note-taking and asking questions about the natural world.
