Environmental Education in Wisconsin

KEEP - Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program

Our goal is to improve and increase energy education in Wisconsin's K-12 schools. KEEP is a collaborative effort of the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education and Focus on Energy (www.focusonenergy.com). Focus on Energy is Wisconsin’s statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy initiative.

The need for energy education is clear when we understand that some households spend more than 20 percent of their budget on heating their homes and fueling cars. Energy issues in the news emphasize the importance of energy education. Our society needs individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will allow them to use energy resources wisely. Energy literacy is critical to Wisconsin's economic and environmental future.

KEEP Provides the following to Wisconsin Educators:
- Professional Development Opportunities Offered Statewide for Practicing K-12 Teachers
- Resources Available for Check-Out
- Student Involvement Programs (Bright Idea Fundraiser, Energy Bookmark Contest)-
- Networking and Outreach (Web site, monthly electronic bulletin, bi-annual newsletter, conference presentations and exhibits)
- Funding Opportunities
