A small group of dedicated educators from Wisconsin and Minnesota who are striving to change education came together at Beaver Creek Reserve in Augusta to learn about engaging students through environment-focused projects.

Join Windows to the Universe educators this fall for free 90-minute live seminars highlighting science content and classroom activities on topics related to climate change. Offered through the National Science Teachers Association, these seminars are a part of the NASA-funded Global Climate Change Educator Professional Development Network.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 School Forest Awards. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have provided leadership for local school forests. LEAF (the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Program) will recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to school forest programs. All nominations are due by September 17, 2010.

Nominations are being sought for the following awards: Earthguard, Student, Educator of the Year, Aldo Leopold, and WAEE. To nominate a candidate, class, or youth group, download the form, complete it, and return it to WAEE by September 30, 2010.

Students sell energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs and earn $2.00 for every bulb sold. In the fall, students may also sell strings of LED holiday lights and earn $2 per string.
